We'll find Nemo who will take us on a ride down the East Australian current to the amazing Barrier Reef where we will make "oceans" in a bottle, fish rubbings, 3-D murals, and our own class coral reef complete with fish. The Zany World of Animated Video

Make your stories come to life in this awesome animated video class. You will be guided through the process of producing a minute-long, animated video by taking digital pictures and grouping them together in a time-sequence. Using Play-Doh, fantastic moveable action figures, LEGO's, foam core backdrops, pens and markers, you will develop your story, design what your background will look like, decide on the figures you want to animate and then bring it all together by adding sound effects and voices in a post-video production using stop-motion animation. Whether it's sidesplitting comedy or an action-packed movie, there's a film for everyone. It's easy to say movies are fun, but what makes them special to you? Is it the action, crazy stunts or funny lines? In this class compare different types of movie productions such as animated shorts, music videos, movie trailers, web videos, and other types of shoots. Explore the basics of filmmaking techniques, including camera angles, lighting, sound recording, screenwriting, storyboarding, and direction. Watch movie clips from your favorite movies and discuss how these techniques were used in each film. Have fun collaborating in groups writing scripts and acting out skits. Come have two times the fun in this unique class!
Once each week you will get ready for the future using the Microsoft Office Suite of programs to produce awesome projects. We will be disigning postcards in Publisher, building an animated slide show in PowerPoint, creating a word search in Excel and even making our own stationary in Word.
The rest of the week will be spent discovering the world of video game building. In the video game design component, we will learn how to build computer video games that will keep players coming back for more. We will focus on arcade and platform-style video games for beginners as well as advanced campers. You will be guided through the basics of game logic, animations, scoring systems, level design and more. The finale will be the creation of your very own multi-level 2D arcade game. And, if you've taken the video game design class before, don't worry, you can build on what you've already learned. Come join the adventure in this one-of-a-kind computer class!

Beads to Benefit Others

Back by popular demand! Over the past two years, Concordia's Enrichment Camp has run a successful benefit class and has raised more than $2,000 for charity. This class is designed to not only teach campers how to design and make jewelry, but to also learn how to give back to benefit others. Learn special techniques of jewerly-making such as crimping, knotting, metal-stamping, stringing, and briolette wraps. Discover how to make distinctive Illusion necklaces using beautiful glass and stone beads. Explore how to make Japanese and European Chain Maille necklaces from classic, traditional weaves to ornate rope patterns. What a "bead-tiful" way to spend your summer!

You can register for the Enrichment Afternoon Program as a separate program. So if your child wants to join us just from Noon-3pm, we have an exciting program for them to enjoy. And, of course, you can still register for both the Morning and Afternoon Enrichment Programs.
Program Focus: Provide an exciting, fun, creative and stimulating program to satisfy a wide range of interests that will challenge the mind and the imagination while fostering personal growth. Campers will learn new skills designed to uncover hidden talents and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Program Activities:
Cooking: In Concordia's kitchen, we will whip up fun and simple snacks, beverages and desserts: such as mini-pizzas, cheesy quesadillas, chocolate-covered popcorn, refreshing fruit smoothies and decadent chocolate fudge.
Science: Through scientific investigations, campers will explore the chemical reactions of everyday household ingredients. As science super-sleuths, you will be mystified as you examine the properties of ooey-gooey mystery substances like Oobleck and Gak.
Art: Create magnificent art pieces and unique 3-D designs in our art class. Have fun working with tie-dying and rice art while getting a little bit messy.
Computer: Revel in playing your favorite computer games in Concordia's state-of-the-art computer lab. If you love to draw, color and paint, then KidPix may be the game for you and, if logic games are your thing, then try the exciting game of Zoombinis. Other games will also be offered.
Water Play: Campers will have great fun playing water games, splashing in small wading pools, and sliding down the slippery slip and slide. Campers will test their coordination by following fun obstacle courses using water balloons, cones and squishy balls. There will also be a movie day where we will pop our own delicious popcorn to enjoy with the show.
Outdoor Play: Campers will have fun participating in organized games. We will head for Concordia's own sand pit to play volleyball and use Concordia's grassy quad to play kickball and more. Each day will bring new challenges for campers to build confidence, work as a team, and have fun.
